2013 County Council Elections

Local voters will go to the polls on May 2 to elect their county councillors.

All 77 seats across the county are up, with eight of those across the constituency of Hitchin & Harpenden.

The elections will determine who controls Hertfordshire County Council, which gets 74p of every tax pound paid in the county. The authority, which has the Liberal Democrats as the official opposition, controls key services such as schools, roads, streetlights and social services.

North Herts Rural - Ian Simpson
