Bearton Survey Results...

20 Apr 2012

There was a good response to the questionnaire sent out by Lisa Courts & Mike Lott and they have already followed up on a number of them.

Many people responded to the question of a 20 mph speed limit for residential areas. While people were able to comment most on their immediate area, a significant majority of those who responded wanted some 20 mph speed limits in Bearton.

As far as Churchgate is concerned, the great majority of respondents wanted Churchgate either to be refurbished or left as it is. Of those who would like to see it redeveloped, all but one person qualified their response by indicating that any redevelopment must not spoil the town. As you may know, I am strongly against the redevelopment as proposed and agree with the view expressed by English Heritage that "the Simons scheme appears to have been generated by a wish to impose on Hitchin a standard and, frankly, alien retail development".

Finally there was significant support for kerbside collection of plastic.
