It’s all to play for in the New Hitchin Constituency
Chris Lucas says, “We have been let down by the Conservatives for too long. After narrowly missing the chance to unseat the Tories in 2019, our LibDem team has been eagerly awaiting their turn to transform the political landscape across the new Hitchin Constituency. Now finally, we get the opportunity to turn the page on this shambolic Tory government and start to repair our damaged NHS, stabilise the economy and protect our precious natural environment.
As your hard-working local champion, I will work tirelessly to deliver a Fair Deal for All. Unlike the other two main parties, I am proud to be your local candidate because I am just like everyone else; I work as a teacher at North Herts College, my kids go to Hitchin Boys’ School, I live in the centre of Hitchin and I represent the ward where I live as a Councillor on North Hertfordshire District Council. We deserve an MP that understands the interests of the ordinary men and women across the constituency, not the self-interest of the two other main parties.
Over the next few weeks, you’ll hear a lot from the ‘red team’ and the ‘blue team’ about how only they can beat the other, as if only they have the divine right to represent the Hitchin Constituency in Parliament. Not only do I think this wrong, but I think this condescends to the people within the Hitchin Constituency and takes us for fools. With your help, we can right this wrong and we can demonstrate to the people of Hitchin and the villages that they can trust me as their next MP to serve the people and not the narrow interests of either the trades’ union puppet masters or to feather the nest of the big money donors. The only polls that matter are the ones on 4th July!
Just a few weeks ago at the local elections people across the Hitchin Constituency put their trust in the Liberal Democrats here and delivered an excellent result, with even more of our hardworking councillors elected to serve locally. That broad based support across both rural and urban areas proves that I am the best candidate to begin a new chapter here.”
