A new zebra crossing is now helping hundreds of local Chells residents cross safely over busy Chells Way, near Tesco at The Glebe. It was the idea of local Lib Dem Chells County Councillor Robin Parker, who funded the crossing from his Hertfordshire County Council Highways Locality Budget.
Conservatives at Herts County Council blocked a Lib Dem proposal to set up "No Idling" zones near schools to reduce air pollution suffered by school children but the Conservatives voted it down saying they were already doing enough to improve air quality.
Conservative run Hertfordshire County Council failed to fix over 50% of reported potholes in the year to May 2023.
Hertfordshire County Council has fined statutory undertakers i.e., water, gas and electricity companies over £400,000 in penalty notices issued because companies failed to get the right permits or breached their permits.
